The Reverend Lauren P. McCombs
Deacon Lauren grew up in San Jose. She went to college at University of California at Santa Barbara with a degree in Environmental Studies with a geology concentration.
Upon graduation, she worked in Washington D.C. for the government, as well as for a private consulting company.
Deacon Lauren moved back to California and worked for Fleur Mining and Metals before she became the Controller for two computer magazines.
She became involved at Transfiguration Episcopal Church in San Mateo. She was on the altar guild, the flower guild, and was the Junior Warden. She also began a healing ministry and started a Quiet Garden.
Deacon Lauren realized that she had a calling to be an ordained minister. She obtained a BA in Diaconal Studies from the School for Deacons in Berkeley and was ordained at Grace Cathedral.
Deacon Lauren served at Christ Church in Los Altos, Epiphany in San Carlos, and St. Matthew’s in San Mateo. She was also a lower school chaplain at St. Andrew’s Episcopal School.
A deacon is ordained to be the bridge between the Church and the community. Deacon Lauren is actively involved in speaking at the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors’ meetings on various social justice issues affecting our underserved residents.
