Outreach Ministry
Living out our faith in service to others is core to Christ Church's mission. Every week, Outreach provides an opportunity to uplift the most vulnerable in our community and beyond via one of the five organizations we support.
LifeMoves provides food and interim shelter to 1,500 people each night staying in 26 shelters in San Mateo and Santa Clara counties. Through their efforts, 2,100 people moved into stable permanent housing in 2024. Christ Church Outreach has special partnerships with Redwood Family House in Redwood City and the Hoptel in East Palo Alto serving homeless Veterans. Each year, through volunteer days and collection drives, we provides meals, toiletries, kids snack bags, food baskets, backpacks with school supplies, linens, clothes, and blankets to the most needy in our community through Life Moves.
Since GAIA Global Health was founded in 2000, Christ Church has supported their work to eradicate AIDS in Malawi, Africa. In spring of 2025, Christ Church led the charge in raising funds for 27+ nursing scholarships. In Malawi, GAIA Scholars represent 10% of public sector RNs. GAIA also supports seven mobile health clinics which operate in the rural areas. Our fundraising also provided medical supplies for a mobile clinic for a four months, providing care for 15,400 people in 2024.
SpiritCare provides spiritual support to forgotten seniors at 70+ Bay Area Senior care homes. Christ Church partners with Burlingame Long Term Care (crafts programs), Silver Oaks Memory Care in Menlo Park (music/communion programs) and assisted living/memory care at the Sequoias in Portola Valley.
Rise Against Hunger is working to eradicate hunger worldwide; it currently operates in 37 countries. Every September, we package 15,000+ nutritionally balanced meals which are sent to countries in need.
Keep an eye out for our next packing event!
Project WeHope addresses homelessness, hunger, underemployment and recidivism in the Bay Area. They operate three shelters (EPA, SF and Coast House in HMB) plus a safe parking lot in SJ for "vehicle dwellers," provide mobile showers and laundry in five Bay Area counties (Dignity on Wheels) and distribute food weekly to the hungry in EPA. We help in the following ways:
Providing a monthly hot dinner to the residents of Coast House in Half Moon Bay
Distributing food in East Palo Alto quarterly
Running food drives for their kitchen, which provides two meals a day in their shelters.
