The Reverend Matthew McDermott
I was born into an Irish Catholic family in 1957 and survived living with 8 siblings in Lorain, Ohio until I went west as a young man in 1977. I studied English Literature at San Francisco State University and completed my Masters of Divinity degree at the Church Divinity School of the Pacific in Berkeley, California in 1987. After ministering in various bay area churches I became Rector of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Palo Alto, Ca. in 1995 and served that creative community for 28 years. I am now retired from full-time ministry and enjoy helping parishes through times of transition. I spend the rest of my time with my family and friends, including grandchildren, and enjoy traveling, cycling, hiking and continuing to learn what a miracle this life is, each and every day.
